法國社會學家布迪厄（Pierre Bourdieu）曾對社會學下過一個註解：社會學是
一門格鬥技。這樣的態度，也貫穿了他的整個學術生涯的所有工作。從他早期的
阿爾及利亞殖民地的研究，初期對教育社會學的研究，到中期對文化、藝術、品
味與社會階級的研究，一直到晚期對科學的反省以及對國家角色的重新思考，都
圍繞著一個相同的主題：各式各樣的宰制（dominations）在社會中是如何構成及
永續的？ 布迪厄著作等身，但絕不能忽略 1979 年所出版《區判：品味判斷的社
會批判》（La Distinction: Critique sociale du jugement）。這本書出版後影響力席捲
全世界，迅速在社會學、人類學、文化研究等領域獲得及大量的引用，發揮了跨
學科的巨大影響力，並於 1998 年由國際社會學會（ISA），選定為廿世紀最重要
的十部社會學著作的第六名。《區判》不僅是「品味」與「生活風格」的社會學
研究先驅，也是其理論概念「慣習」（habitus）的經驗運用。這本重量級著作延
續其《再生產》一書的教育社會學研究，為象徵暴力（symbolic violence）理論開
拓了更廣泛的研究議題。布迪厄的作品素有艱澀難懂之風，為了使其易於理解與
親近，本課程的閱讀書目將以 2023 年由邱德亮執筆的中譯作品為主，英譯作品
為輔。教師也將根據法文原著的內容製作提綱挈領的中文摘要來進行教學。
