本課程旨在培養研究生從事政治學學術研究所需之理論思考、研究設計與方法應用能力。課程內容涵蓋政治學研究之基本哲學基礎、理論建構、研究問題形成、文獻回顧、研究設計、資料蒐集與分析方法，以及研究倫理等議題。課程將介紹量化研究法之基本原理與實務應用，並透過學術文獻閱讀、研究計畫撰寫及案例討論，訓練學生批判性分析既有研究成果，進而發展具學術價值與實務意義之研究方案。課程最終目標為協助學生建立獨立從事政治學研究之能力，並為碩士論文或後續學術研究奠定基礎。

This course aims to cultivate the theoretical thinking, research design and method application abilities required by graduate students to engage in political science academic research. The course content covers the basic philosophical foundations of political science research, theoretical construction, research question formation, literature review, research design, data collection and analysis methods, as well as research ethics and other issues. The course will introduce the basic principles and practical applications of quantitative research methods, and train students to critically analyze existing research results through academic literature reading, research plan writing and case discussions, and then develop research plans with academic value and practical significance. The ultimate goal of the course is to help students establish their ability to independently engage in political science research and lay the foundation for a master's thesis or subsequent academic research.

針對政治學中主要的領域及其研究作廣泛介紹，除了對現階段政治理論作批判外，也介紹現階段的各種研究方法以及新的研究發展方向。本課程除了可以豐富學生的研究視野，也可以奠定研究的基礎。除了讓學生瞭解目前研究的主要潮流外，對於學生將來研究的定向，也具有指標性和引導性。
