In contemporary philosophy, philosophy of mind is one of the active and important research fields, which studies issues related to mental states and psychological properties. These questions include at least: What does it mean for a living being to have a mind? What conditions does a creature or a system meet to be considered to have a mind? Is there a characteristic that distinguishes psychological phenomena from non-psychological, purely physical phenomena? What is the relationship between mind and body (or mental phenomena and physical phenomena)? Is pain just a felt event? Is there any pain that we cannot feel? Do emotions (such as pain and jealousy) involve some cognitive component, such as belief? Does having beliefs and thoughts require language skills? Do dumb animals have thoughts? By explaining and discussing these issues and related theories, this course hopes to provide everyone with a basic understanding of the philosophy of psychology.
