方以智是明末清初的重要思想家，他的學問涉及多種思想領域，包括考據學、莊子、易經、禪宗、自然科學等等。本課程內容包含以下幾個研究領域：第一、以文獻學、歷史考據法認識方以智的生平、粵難以及時代特色；第二、從科技史角度切入，跨學科討論《通雅》和《物理小識》所體現的自然知識和傳教士西學；第三、依思想史與觀念史方法，分析《東西均》、《藥地炮莊》和《周易時論合編》統攝三教的思想體系；第四、認識明末遺民逃禪以及方以智出家後的禪法內涵。本課程期能幫助學生認識方以智的思想概況，了解學界如何從各個角度討其思想特質，並強化自身的研究能力。

Fang Yizhi was an important thinker in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty. His knowledge covered a variety of ideological fields, including textual criticism, Zhuangzi, I Ching, Zen Buddhism, natural science, etc. The content of this course includes the following research areas: first, using philology and historical textual research to understand Fang Yizhi’s life, the difficulties of Guangdong and the characteristics of the times; second, from the perspective of the history of science and technology, interdisciplinary discussions on the nature reflected in "Tongya" and "Little Knowledge of Physics" Knowledge and missionary Western learning; third, based on the methods of intellectual history and concept history, analyze the ideological system of the three religions unified by "Dongxi Jun", "Yao Di Paozhuang" and "Zhou Yi Shi Lun"; fourth, understand the connotation of Zen in the late Ming Dynasty when the survivors fled and Fang Yizhi became a monk. This course can help students understand the overview of Fang Yizhi’s thoughts, understand how academic circles discuss his ideological characteristics from various angles, and strengthen their own research capabilities.
