Thinking with Humanistic Value
教育目標 Course Target
我們的日常生活深受社會多元「價值」(Value)與市場交易「價格」(Price)的影響,但不少人卻混淆與模糊了內在長期的「價值」與表象波動的「價格」的本質上差異,因而「價值投資之父」Benjamin Graham以「價格是我們要付出的,價值是我們得到的」(Price is what you pay, Value is what you get.)來對比這兩個概念體系。
也因此,本門課程的目標,即在於協助同學認識與討論所面對之多元價值的分歧與衝突,依循Hannah Arendt「人類是在啟動事物和一連串事件的意義下行動的生物,縱使能量微弱且不斷面臨各種困境,但我們永遠都可以採取進一步行動,改變或轉化那些看似無法避免的歷程」(葉浩),進而討論價值與價格的意涵與差異、不同層次的價值範疇與價格化對公民社會的影響與制約,以及如何面對社會化過程中的價值衝突與混亂,期能促使同學進一步深入理解、自覺與培養對自我人生價值的信念。
Our daily lives are deeply affected by the diverse "value" of society and the "price" of market transactions. However, many people confuse and blur the essential difference between the intrinsic long-term "value" and the "price" that appears to fluctuate. Therefore, Benjamin Graham, the "father of value investing", compared these two conceptual systems with "Price is what you pay, Value is what you get." (Price is what you pay, Value is what you get.)
Therefore, the goal of this course is to help students understand and discuss the differences and conflicts of multiple values they face, following Hannah's Arendt "Human beings are creatures that act in the sense of initiating things and a series of events. Even if the energy is weak and we are constantly facing various difficulties, we can always take further actions to change or transform those seemingly inevitable processes" (Ye Hao), and then discuss the meaning and differences of value and price, the impact and constraints of different levels of value categories and pricing on civil society, and how to face value conflicts and chaos in the socialization process. It is hoped that students can further understand, become conscious and cultivate their belief in the value of life.
