Community Development
教育目標 Course Target
This course introduces the concepts, theories, and practices of community development in the context of contemporary social, economic, and environmental challenges. Students will examine how communities respond to issues such as population aging, rural depopulation, economic inequality, climate change, and food insecurity.
Special attention will be given to the role of agriculture, food systems, and regional development in shaping sustainable communities in Taiwan. Through case studies from Taiwan and other countries, students will critically explore key questions:
Is agriculture still a necessary industry in modern society?
How can rural communities survive and thrive in the future?
What is the relationship between food security and community development?
How can local resources contribute to sustainable regional development?
By combining theoretical perspectives with practical examples, students will develop the skills needed to analyze community issues and propose sustainable development strategies.
