作曲家創作的音樂類型，與其所屬的時代有著緊密的關聯，本課程會在文化史以及經濟史的角度切入，讓大家理解某些木管經典作品是在怎樣的需求下，被創造出來的。而十九世紀的工業革命，造成了工匠技藝的進步以及民族國家的產生，這對於管樂器的進步有著密切的關聯，也影響了木管樂器在古典音樂史的地位。這是一堂木管主修學生的必修課，在樂器主修課的薰陶之下，學生對於哪些曲目是該樂器的經典曲目，其實已有所掌握，本課程希望皆由上述的兩個觀點，給予木管主修學生對於自身經典曲目新的視野。

The types of music created by composers are closely related to the era to which they belong. This course will approach it from the perspectives of cultural history and economic history, allowing everyone to understand the needs under which certain woodwind classics were created. The Industrial Revolution in the 19th century led to the advancement of craftsmanship and the emergence of nation-states, which was closely related to the progress of wind instruments and also affected the status of woodwind instruments in the history of classical music. This is a compulsory course for woodwind major students. Under the influence of the musical instrument major course, students have actually mastered which repertoire is the classic repertoire of the instrument. This course hopes to give woodwind major students a new perspective on their own classic repertoire based on the above two perspectives.
