本課程目標在讓學生掌握不同階段之中國藝術品之質材(materials)、功能(functions)、社會(society)與美學(aesthetic)脈絡，以認識理解各時期藝術品(視覺圖像與物質文化)的發展時序與地區差異。本課程是東方藝術史入門導論，旨在訓練學生的視覺分析評判能力，培養學生賞析藝術的美學基礎涵養，進而思索不同文化藝術經典的歷史與社會價值。

The goal of this course is to enable students to master the materials, functions, society and aesthetic context of Chinese artworks at different stages, so as to understand the development sequence and regional differences of artworks (visual images and material culture) in each period. This course is an introductory introduction to the history of Eastern art. It aims to train students' visual analysis and judgment abilities, cultivate students' aesthetic basics in appreciating art, and then think about the historical and social value of different cultural and artistic classics.

本課程的教學目的主要想達到下列三個目標：(1) 透過作品的介紹與析，熟悉中國美術史具有代表性的藝術家與作品。(2) 介紹中國美術史裡的重要議題(issues), 避免傳統教學方式的瑣碎與片段。(3) 從作品的分析與議題的介紹，使得學生能初步理解藝術史學方法，從而能進一步的為日後的深入研究奠基。

The teaching purposes of this course mainly aim to achieve the following three goals: (1) Through the introduction and analysis of works, become familiar with representative artists and works in the history of Chinese art. (2) Introduce important issues in the history of Chinese art and avoid the trivialities and fragments of traditional teaching methods. (3) Through the analysis of works and the introduction of topics, students can have a preliminary understanding of art historical methods, which can further lay the foundation for future in-depth research.
