教育目標 Course Target
本課程運用社會學的批判視角,重新審視人類社會與自然環境之間動態的互動關係。課程的前半將系統性地介紹環境社會學的多元觀點。我們將從「生態想像」的宏觀反思出發,逐步深挖資本主義體制下的環境危機根源,陸續探討「生態現代化」的科技樂觀論、馬克思主義視野下的「代謝斷裂」與「不平等交換」,以及揭示全球經濟不斷耗竭自然資源的「生產的苦力磨坊」理論。透過這些核心理論的奠基,學生將能理解現代環境危機並非單純的自然生態現象,而是深刻交織於工業革命、殖民歷史以及全球不平等結構之中的社會產物。
本課程的後半切入具體的議題。我們將深入剖析農業與食物系統、並檢視塑膠污染。我們將練習「合作」面對環境挑戰,透過多個深度的合作社循環經濟案例分析,學生將看到在地社群如何繞過資本主義的剝削邏輯,以民主、公平且循環的方式重構生產與消費關係。這是一門結合理論批判、議題反思與轉型行動的課程。
This course uses the critical perspective of sociology to re-examine the dynamic interactive relationship between human society and the natural environment. The first half of the course will systematically introduce the diverse perspectives of environmental sociology. We will start from the macro-reflection of "ecological imagination" and gradually dig into the root causes of environmental crises under the capitalist system. We will successively explore the scientific and technological optimism of "ecological modernization", "metabolic rupture" and "unequal exchange" from the perspective of Marxism, and the "cool mill of production" theory that reveals the global economy's continuous depletion of natural resources. Through the foundation of these core theories, students will be able to understand that modern environmental crises are not simply natural ecological phenomena, but are social products that are deeply intertwined with the industrial revolution, colonial history, and global inequality structures.
The second half of the course gets into specific topics. We'll take an in-depth look at agriculture and food systems and examine plastic pollution. We will practice "cooperation" to face environmental challenges. Through multiple in-depth case studies of cooperative circular economy, students will see how local communities bypass the logic of capitalist exploitation and reconstruct production and consumption relationships in a democratic, fair and circular manner. This is a course that combines theoretical criticism, issue reflection and transformational action.
