本課程以精神分析理論為核心，探討「慾望」如何在自我、他人與社會關係下運作，並嘗試將精神分析從臨床語境轉化為理解當代社會的重要理論工具。

《精神分析引論》是佛洛伊德於1915年到1917年所開設的講座內容整理，該講座並非專業的課程，而面向一般公眾，旨在向社會大眾介紹精神分析這門學科的工作、和其他學派的差異、同時也回應一般常見對精神分析的質疑和誤解，因此對於非心理學或精神分析專業的人來說，這本書是精神分析入門的絕佳入口，不需要擔心沒有相關的專業背景。本課程將從閱讀這本弗洛伊德的講座文集開始，說明精神分析基本的關照，以及對症狀、壓抑與慾望的基本理論框架，而後閱讀拉岡(Jacques Lacan)進一步對精神分析所做的語言學轉向，理解慾望如何作為一種結構性效果而非單純的心理動機，以及主體如何在象徵秩序、想像與否定性中生成。

後半學期本課程將進一步探討Slavoj Žižek如何將精神分析引入意識形態理論，說明幻想（fantasy）與享樂（jouissance）的運作，如何使個體能在自身慾望與社會規範衝突的情況下，仍願意參與社會運作，持續再生產既有的社會秩序。透過這一理論脈絡，學生將能理解：社會現實並非單純由制度或理性行動所構成，而是深刻地嵌入於人的慾望結構之中。

本課程亦將結合具體文化文本（如影像、遊戲或文學作品）進行分析，示範如何運用精神分析概念理解當代社會中的主體形成、認同建構與意識形態運作。透過閱讀、討論與案例分析，本課程旨在培養學生將抽象理論轉化為分析工具的能力，並重新思考「慾望」在社會中的位置與作用。這堂課可以幫助同學了解人們的意義、品味、身分和認同……等等，是如何受到慾望與社會的雙重影響，從而表現在人們的話語、行為、選擇和社會關係當中，又或是表現在生活態度、消費、美感與政治價值的偏好上。 

This course takes psychoanalytic theory as the core, explores how "desire" operates in the relationship between self, others and society, and attempts to transform psychoanalysis from a clinical context into an important theoretical tool for understanding contemporary society.

"Introduction to Psychoanalysis" is a compilation of lectures given by Freud from 1915 to 1917. This lecture is not a professional course, but is open to the general public. It aims to introduce the work of psychoanalysis to the public and the differences between it and other schools of thought. It also responds to common doubts and misunderstandings about psychoanalysis. Therefore, for people who are not majoring in psychology or psychoanalysis, this book is an excellent introduction to psychoanalysis, and there is no need to worry about not having relevant professional background. This course will start by reading this collection of Freud's lectures to explain the basic concerns of psychoanalysis and the basic theoretical framework of symptoms, repression and desire, and then read Jacques Lacan's further linguistic turn on psychoanalysis to understand how desire serves as a structural effect rather than a pure psychological motivation, and how the subject is generated in symbolic order, imagination and negativity.

In the second half of the semester, this course will further explore how Slavoj Žižek introduced psychoanalysis into ideological theory, explaining how the operation of fantasy and jouissance enables individuals to still be willing to participate in social operations and continue to reproduce the existing social order even when their own desires conflict with social norms. Through this theoretical context, students will be able to understand that social reality is not simply composed of institutions or rational actions, but is deeply embedded in the structure of human desires.

This course will also analyze specific cultural texts (such as images, games, or literary works) to demonstrate how to use psychoanalytic concepts to understand subject formation, identity construction, and ideological operations in contemporary society. Through reading, discussion and case analysis, this course aims to cultivate students' ability to transform abstract theories into analytical tools, and to rethink the position and role of "desire" in society. This class can help students understand how people's meanings, tastes, identities, and identities, etc., are dually affected by desire and society, and are thus reflected in people's words, behaviors, choices, and social relationships, or in their preferences for life attitudes, consumption, aesthetics, and political values.
