本課程從經驗層面系統分析當代中國政府與政治的組織結構、基本特徵、運行機制及歷史發展。從理解當代中國政府與政治的關鍵方面──中國共產黨領導的政治體制及中國共產黨本身入手，進而在橫向維度上分別闡述作為最高權力機關和立法機關的人民代表大會、作為統一戰線重要內容的多黨合作和政治協商制度、作為最高國家行政機關的中央人民政府、作為「刀把子」的政法系統、作為「筆桿子」的宣傳系統，以及作為「槍桿子」的軍事系統，在縱向維度上分析中央與地方關係、地方政府、民族區域自治制度及基層治理四個方面的問題。最後，並探討當代中國國家與社會及國家與公民關係的變遷和發展，以幫助學生更好地認識和理解當代中國政治的運作。

This course systematically analyzes the organizational structure, basic characteristics, operating mechanisms and historical development of contemporary Chinese government and politics from an empirical level. Starting from the key aspects of understanding contemporary Chinese government and politics - the political system led by the Communist Party of China and the Communist Party of China itself, it then elaborates on the horizontal dimension of the People's Congress as the highest authority and legislative body, the multi-party cooperation and political consultation system as an important part of the united front, and the The Central People's Government as the highest national administrative organ, the political and legal system as the "handle of the sword", the propaganda system as the "barrel of the pen", and the military system as the "barrel of the gun" analyze the four aspects of the relationship between the central and local governments, local governments, ethnic regional autonomy systems and grassroots governance in a vertical dimension.
