Ethics and Politics of the Digital Age

教育目標 Course Target

本課程不同於傳統倫理學課程多由個人出發,擬藉由巨觀政治結構至微觀個人實踐的逆向教學策略,引導學生從科技的政治制約中重建個人的道德能動性。預計透過研讀 Mathias Risse 與 Shannon Vallor 的著作,以達成三項目標:1.剖析科技政治結構(批判): 運用 Mathias Risse 的政治理論,引導學生思辨數位科技非價值中立,而是隱含權力分配與社會價值的政治實體,以了解科技如何形塑當代的社會秩序。2.解構 AI 鏡像本質(反思): 藉由 Shannon Vallor 的AI 鏡像論,引導學生理解AI本質上是人類集體經驗的映照,以拆解科技迷思,並重新肯認人類在道德判斷與創造力上的獨特價值。3.培養個體科技德行(應用): 在理解科技尤其AI的結構與本質後,引導學生回歸個體層次,在數位環境中轉化並實踐誠實、勇氣與智慧等科技德行,並為自身擬定與建構可能抵抗受AI科技宰制、重奪生活主導權的具體行動方案。

This course is different from traditional ethics courses, which mostly start from the individual. It intends to guide students to rebuild personal moral agency from the political constraints of technology through a reverse teaching strategy from macro-political structure to micro-personal practice. It is expected that by studying the works of Mathias Risse and Shannon Vallor, three goals will be achieved: 1. Analyze the political structure of technology (criticism): Use Mathias Risse’s political theory to guide students to think that digital technology is not value-neutral, but a political entity that implies power distribution and social value, so as to understand how technology shapes the contemporary social order. 2. Deconstruct the essence of AI mirroring (reflection): Through Shannon Vallor’s AI mirroring theory, students are guided to understand that AI is essentially a reflection of human collective experience, so as to dismantle technological myths and reaffirm the unique value of human beings in moral judgment and creativity. 3. Cultivate individual technological virtues (application): After understanding the structure and nature of technology, especially AI, students are guided to return to the individual level, transform and practice technological virtues such as honesty, courage and wisdom in the digital environment, and formulate and construct specific action plans for themselves that may resist the dominance of AI technology and regain the dominance of life.
