台灣傳統空間之知識，包含漢人的傳統建築形式、空間構成以及原住民的傳統建築特徵，乃至於莊、街、城（以上漢人聚落）、社（原住民聚落）等的複合規模空間。之後在輔以外來/殖民勢力所產生的新成型聚落空間，學習以上各式空間受新型態建成環境影響後之型變。在學習其基本知識後，探討地域的構成中，找出小從建築大致城鎮等各式空間於地域鏈鎖中的定位，並理解社會經濟等環境背景與其空間的關係。
本課程初期階段教授台灣傳統空間之知識，包含漢人的傳統建築形式、空間構成以及原住民的傳統建築特徵，乃至於莊、街、城（以上漢人聚落）、社（原住民聚落）等的複合規模空間。之後在輔以外來/殖民勢力所產生的新成型聚落空間，學習以上各式空間受新型態建成環境影響後之型變。在學習其基本知識後，探討地域的構成中，找出小從建築大致城鎮等各式空間於地域鏈鎖中的定位，並理解社會經濟等環境背景與其空間的關係。
　　本課程後半則探討戰後聚落之變化，理解國民政府遷台下難民安置、土地改革、經濟高度成長以及步入全球化經濟後等階段住宅與商業聚落的空間演變。換言之，本課程不僅討論台灣聚落之原型，更欲使學習者能掌握空間之現代性，進而對未來的聚落空間有所展望。
　　實務上，各種規模之空間分析不僅是探討原型，並在時間軸的變化剖析空間的消長與演進，從此明瞭空間構成的核心原理。本課程並會有實地聚落參訪與空間演習操作，俾使學習者有空間掌握的專業敏感度。

The knowledge of Taiwan’s traditional space includes the traditional architectural forms and spatial compositions of the Han people and the traditional architectural characteristics of the aboriginal people, as well as the complex-scale spaces of villages, streets, cities (above Han settlements), communities (aboriginal settlements), etc. Later, with the aid of the newly formed settlement spaces created by foreign/colonial forces, we studied the changes in the above types of spaces affected by the new type of built environment. After learning the basic knowledge, we will explore the composition of the region, find out the positioning of various spaces such as small buildings and towns in the regional chain, and understand the relationship between the socio-economic and other environmental background and its space.
The initial stage of this course teaches the knowledge of Taiwan's traditional space, including the traditional architectural forms and spatial compositions of the Han people, and the traditional architectural features of the aboriginal people, as well as complex-scale spaces such as villages, streets, cities (above Han settlements), and communities (aboriginal settlements). Later, with the aid of the newly formed settlement spaces created by foreign/colonial forces, we studied the changes in the above types of spaces affected by the new type of built environment. After learning the basic knowledge, we will explore the composition of the region, find out the positioning of various spaces such as small buildings and towns in the regional chain, and understand the relationship between the socio-economic and other environmental background and its space.
The second half of this course explores the changes in settlements after the war, and understands the spatial evolution of residential and commercial settlements after the relocation of refugees by the Nationalist Government, land reform, rapid economic growth, and the entry into the global economy. In other words, this course not only discusses the prototype of Taiwanese settlements, but also aims to enable learners to grasp the modernity of space and then have a vision for future settlement spaces.
In practice, spatial analysis of various scales not only explores prototypes, but also analyzes the growth, decline and evolution of space through changes in the time axis, thus clarifying the core principles of space composition. This course also includes on-site settlement visits and spatial exercises to equip learners with professional sensitivity in spatial mastery.
