本課程聚焦於宗教社會學的重要議題——世俗化（secularization）與後世俗化（post-secularization），並以Peter Berger關於超自然者隱退及再發現（the demise and rediscovery of the supernatural）論點引發的關於「超自然者/靈異者」爭議為軸，為探索「超自然者/靈異者」或「神異/靈異要素」在當代宗教現象中扮演的角色，提供相關知識背景。課程分成五個部分：（1） Handbook of the Sociology of Religion選文，提供當代宗教社會學的議題架構；（2）台灣學者關於世俗化的文章，提供對話的視角；（3）Peter Berger世俗化論點重要文獻，提供理解「柏格悖論」（Berger paradox）的知識背景；（4）Making Sense of the Paranormal選文，掌握目前社會學靈異經驗研究的進展；最後（5），經典選讀：透過重要經典反思世俗化與後世俗化的爭議。

This course focuses on the important issues in the sociology of religion - secularization and post-secularization, and takes the "supernatural/supernatural" controversy triggered by Peter Berger's argument about the demise and rediscovery of the supernatural as its axis. It provides relevant knowledge background for exploring the role of "supernatural/supernatural" or "supernatural/supernatural elements" in contemporary religious phenomena. The course is divided into five parts: (1) Selected articles from the Handbook of the Sociology of Religion, which provide the topic structure of contemporary sociology of religion; (2) Taiwanese scholars’ articles on secularization, which provide a dialogue perspective; (3) Peter Berger’s important documents on secularization arguments, which provide the intellectual background for understanding the “Berger paradox”; (4) Making Sense of the Selected articles on Paranormal to grasp the current progress in sociological research on supernatural experiences; finally (5), selected classics: reflect on the controversy between secularization and post-secularization through important classics.
