David Hume (1711-1776) 是英語世界中最具影響力的哲學家之一，他的貢獻範圍廣泛，著作涵蓋了心靈與情感、道德與政治、歷史、和宗教等領域。這門課一方面介紹和討論 Hume 對於重要的哲學問題的主張和論證，了解他的理論，另一方面關心 Hume 的理論對於當代哲學的啟發和影響，並檢視其立場是否仍然是可辯護的。我們所選擇的議題主要是關於形上學和知識論。

David Hume (1711-1776) was one of the most influential philosophers in the English-speaking world, with a wide range of contributions, including writings on the mind and emotions, morality and politics, history, and religion. On the one hand, this course introduces and discusses Hume's claims and arguments on important philosophical issues, and understands his theory. On the other hand, it cares about the inspiration and influence of Hume's theory on contemporary philosophy, and examines whether his position is still defensible. The topics we have chosen are primarily about metaphysics and the theory of knowledge.
