German-speaking University Towns: Culture, Guide, and Publishing Practice (I)
Course Target

This English-medium course (with Traditional Chinese support) introduces major university cities in the German-speaking world (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). Students explore the relationships between higher education systems, urban development, and cultural contexts. Throughout the course, students are exposed to essential German vocabulary and commonly used expressions in a supported, multilingual environment, developing basic language awareness without requiring prior German proficiency.
Working in teams, students collect data, engage in intercultural comparison, design layouts, and produce city-focused articles, culminating in a publishable final product (print or digital). The course integrates research skills, creativity, and communication, emphasizing the integration of language awareness, cultural understanding, and project-based learning. While fostering interest in the educational cultures of German-speaking regions, the course lays a conceptual foundation for further German language study and motivates continued learning.
