Seminar on Life Science Issues

教育目標 Course Target

本課程旨在幫助博雅學位學程學生,以掌握基本概念與重要名詞的方式建立生命科學的觀念架構,並透過演講、議題討論、實物觀察、參訪與影片賞析、口頭報告等活動提昇學習動機與理解深度。本課程內涵有兩大面向:
其一為「生命科學觀念探索」(由劉薏雯老師授課,共十週),以生物醫學與基因主題為主軸,從生命科學的歷史觀、研究方法及化學觀點等切入,延伸至遺傳學、胚胎發育、大腦功能、罕見疾病、分子生物學、基因編輯、基因治療、再生與幹細胞等主題,並搭配參考文獻建立系統性理解。
其二為「生態及植物探索」(由林宜靜老師授課,共五週),運用校內及週邊資源進行觀察與實作,融入永續意涵,強化學生對植物多樣性及生態環境的直接體驗。
本課程最後兩週以同學個人關注的生命科學議題為主,進行彈性自主學習及延伸性討論。

This course aims to help liberal arts degree students establish the conceptual framework of life sciences by mastering basic concepts and important terms, and enhance learning motivation and depth of understanding through activities such as lectures, topic discussions, physical observations, visits, video appreciation, and oral reports. This course has two major aspects:
The first is "Exploration of Life Science Concepts" (taught by Teacher Liu Yiwen, ten weeks in total), which takes the theme of biomedicine and genes as the main axis. It starts from the historical perspective, research methods and chemical perspectives of life sciences, and extends to topics such as genetics, embryonic development, brain function, rare diseases, molecular biology, gene editing, gene therapy, regeneration and stem cells, and uses references to establish a systematic understanding.
The second is "Ecology and Plant Exploration" (taught by teacher Lin Yijing, five weeks in total), which uses on-campus and surrounding resources for observation and practice, integrates the meaning of sustainability, and strengthens students' direct experience of plant diversity and ecological environment.
The last two weeks of this course focus on life science topics that students are personally concerned about, with flexible independent learning and extended discussions.

本課程以生命科學為核心,透過議題導向與討論為主的學習方式,帶領學生理解生命現象背後的科學原理與研究方法。課程內容涵蓋健康、環境、生物科技與倫理等主題,並鼓勵學生閱讀資料、提出觀點、批判思考與互相交流,培養科學素養、分析能力與表達能力,使學生能以更全觀的視角面對生命科學相關議題。

This course takes life science as its core and leads students to understand the scientific principles and research methods behind life phenomena through topic-oriented and discussion-based learning methods. The course content covers topics such as health, environment, biotechnology and ethics, and encourages students to read materials, put forward opinions, think critically and communicate with each other, cultivate scientific literacy, analytical skills and expression skills, so that students can face life science-related issues from a more comprehensive perspective.
