台灣地區人口結構已呈現逐漸老化的趨勢，因此無論是從社會工作或社會福利服務的領域，皆應對此一現象所產生的社會和個人後果予以關切。本課程主要將講授與老人社會工作有關之各個主題，包括老化現象、理論架構、福利政策與措施方案、實務工作等。學生能夠藉由修課、閱讀相關資料、作業演練等過程，學習與老人福利服務及社會工作有關之知識和技能。
老人與社會工作課程主要從社會工作專業視角（老人工作是一個跨專業合作的領域社會工作只是其中一種專業人員）出發，希望藉由此一課程達到以下目的：
1.瞭解老人學的相關理論知識
2.瞭解老人社會工作整體概念、理論基礎和工作方法，包括老人個案工作、老人團體工作、老人社區工作、老人權利倡導等相關實務工作知識
3.瞭解老人社會工作專業評估並提出相關處遇計畫，例如照顧計畫/ISP（個別化服務計畫）與IFSP（個別化家庭服務計畫）的提出
4.瞭解國內外老人社會工作的發展及現況
5.瞭解老人服務機構經營與管理等相關知識

The population structure in Taiwan has shown a gradual aging trend. Therefore, both in the field of social work and social welfare services, everyone should be concerned about the social and personal consequences of this phenomenon. This course will mainly teach various topics related to social work for the elderly, including aging phenomena, theoretical frameworks, welfare policies and measures, practical work, etc. Students can learn knowledge and skills related to elderly welfare services and social work through taking courses, reading relevant materials, and practicing homework.
The Elderly and Social Work course mainly starts from the professional perspective of social work (elderly work is a field of inter-professional cooperation and social work is just one of the professionals). We hope to achieve the following goals through this course:
1. Understand the relevant theoretical knowledge of gerontology
2. Understand the overall concept, theoretical basis and working methods of social work for the elderly, including knowledge of the elderly case work, elderly group work, elderly community work, elderly rights advocacy and other related practical work knowledge
3. Understand the professional assessment of elderly social work and propose relevant treatment plans, such as the proposal of care plan/ISP (Individualized Service Plan) and IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan)
4. Understand the development and current status of social work for the elderly at home and abroad
5. Understand the operation and management of elderly service institutions and other related knowledge

This course is designed to prepare undergraduate students to familiar with the context and process of aging, and become competent in dealing with and assisting older persons through service practice-health care-social work professional dimensions. That is, to enable students to engage issues, problems and needs resolution of elders by applying relevant professional expertise and strategy in compliance with social welfare policies and social service programs.
