教育目標 Course Target
「社會運動」是社會學知識發展中最具特色的研究領域之一,並且,該領域的討論內容也充分展現了社會學由下而上、挑戰既有權威的知識特質。本學期的課程內容將會針對不同的社會運動研究典範進行介紹,例如:資源動員理論、相對剝奪理論、政治機會結構理論、新社會運動等等。此外,集體認同、組織網絡、運動框構在社會運動形成與發展過程中所發揮的作用與角色也會是課程內容的討論重點。
在形形色色的社會運動案例中,本學期將會聚焦於東亞社會民主化過程中,年輕世代在社會運動中的角色和影響,希望同為年輕世代的同學們能夠有所共鳴,並意識到自身對於社會發展可以扮演的積極角色。我們將從近年泰國青年運動所引發的「奶茶聯盟」相關介紹開始,觸及到香港從雨傘運動到反送中運動的發展,而2014年台灣太陽花運動自己國家自己救的青年世代,如何與野百合學運做出延續和不同的回應。最後,以比較與回顧的方式來認識1980年代韓國青年世代在民主轉型過程中的貢獻。
"Social movements" are one of the most distinctive research fields in the development of sociological knowledge, and the discussions in this field also fully demonstrate the bottom-up intellectual nature of sociology and challenge existing authority. The course content of this semester will introduce different social movement research paradigms, such as: resource mobilization theory, relative deprivation theory, political opportunity structure theory, new social movements, etc. In addition, the role played by collective identity, organizational networks, and movement frames in the formation and development of social movements will also be the focus of discussion in the course content.
Among the various cases of social movements, this semester will focus on the role and influence of the younger generation in social movements in the process of democratization of East Asian societies. I hope that students of the same younger generation can resonate with this and realize the positive role they can play in social development. We will start with the introduction of the "Milk Tea Alliance" triggered by the youth movement in Thailand in recent years, touch on the development of Hong Kong from the Umbrella Movement to the anti-extradition movement, and how the young generation of Taiwan's Sunflower Movement in 2014, whose country saved itself, responded to the Wild Lily student movement in a continuation and different way. Finally, a comparative and retrospective approach is used to understand the contribution of the young generation of South Korea in the democratic transition process in the 1980s.
