這門課嘗試從日據時期的台灣文學去理解被殖民者的掙扎與痛苦，重啟考察殖民與反抗的歷史。課堂主要集中閱讀和討論賴和、楊逵、呂赫若、龍瑛宗和吳濁流的作品，並延伸閱讀更多同代人的文學作品。細讀小說文本與分析其中人物的精神狀態，可以讓我們以把握歷史脈絡的方式重新思考和清理殖民、解殖、新殖民主義等諸多問題，再藉由“互文性＂的閱讀，建立一個更大的第三世界的視角，了解日據時期台灣作家的思想資源與限制。

This course attempts to understand the struggle and pain of the colonized from Taiwanese literature during the Japanese occupation, and re-examine the history of colonization and resistance. The class mainly focuses on reading and discussing the works of Lai He, Yang Kui, Lu Heruo, Long Yingzong and Wu Zhuoliu, and extends to reading more literary works of their contemporaries. Carefully reading the text of the novel and analyzing the mental state of the characters can allow us to rethink and sort out many issues such as colonization, decolonization, and neocolonialism by grasping the historical context. Through "intertextuality" reading, we can establish a larger third world perspective and understand the ideological resources and limitations of Taiwanese writers during the Japanese occupation.
