授課主旨

電影作為現代社會的一項代表性藝術，不僅反映了作品製作時的社會情境和政經條件、也凸顯了導演對於如何再現真實的理解，換言之，電影是我們學習分析社會的絕佳渠道之一。以上即為本課的核心關懷。除此之外，觀影本身，可以召喚出包括愉悅、困惑思索、不安、甚或驚恐的多重感官經驗，如此也有助於我們的自我反思能力、以及社會學想像的維度。

本課藉由十個主題，搭配十部影史經典電影和紀錄片，以探討前述議題。這些作品來自前蘇聯、中國、德國、美國、日本、法國、英國、香港、和台灣，以期修課同學可以接觸更多元的電影文化。

本課的閱讀文本和參考文獻皆可見教學平台，每週課後，我們也會上傳教師（與講者）講授的PPT。不過，絕大多數的影片沒有網路資源，所以希望同學不要缺席，以免喪失觀影機會。

Purpose of teaching

As a representative art in modern society, film not only reflects the social situation and political and economic conditions when the work was produced, but also highlights the director's understanding of how to reproduce reality. In other words, film is one of the best channels for us to learn and analyze society. The above is the core concern of this lesson. In addition, watching movies itself can evoke multi-sensory experiences including pleasure, confusion, uneasiness, and even horror, which also contributes to our self-reflection and the dimension of sociological imagination.

This course uses ten themes and ten classic films and documentaries in film history to explore the above-mentioned issues. These works come from the former Soviet Union, China, Germany, the United States, Japan, France, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, with the hope that course students can be exposed to more diverse film cultures.

The reading text and references for this course can be found on the teaching platform. After each class, we will also upload PPTs taught by teachers (and speakers). However, most of the videos do not have online resources, so we hope that students will not be absent to avoid losing the opportunity to watch the movies.
