本課程之目標在於協助修課同學建立社會學量化研究所需的基礎統計知識，並培養基本的統計識讀能力。所謂統計識讀，係指學生能夠理解並評析社會學量化研究中的統計分析結果，掌握常見統計方法的適用情境與研究意涵，並能將統計概念合理地運用於社會學研究問題之分析。課程內容將以常用之基礎推論統計方法為主，涵蓋單一樣本 t 檢定、兩樣本 t 檢定、相關係數、卡方檢定、變異數分析（ANOVA）、迴歸分析與多元迴歸等。教學重點在於理解各項方法的分析邏輯、假設條件與結果詮釋，為學生未來修習進階量化研究課程與從事社會學實證研究建立必要的方法論基礎。透過本課程，學生將能建立閱讀與理解量化研究成果的能力，並具備在後續研究或進階方法課程中，進一步運用統計分析進行社會學量化研究的基礎。

The goal of this course is to help students build basic statistical knowledge required for quantitative research in sociology and develop basic statistical literacy skills. The so-called statistical literacy means that students can understand and evaluate the statistical analysis results in quantitative research in sociology, master the applicable situations and research implications of common statistical methods, and be able to reasonably apply statistical concepts to the analysis of sociological research problems. The course content will focus on commonly used basic inferential statistical methods, covering single-sample t-test, two-sample t-test, correlation coefficient, chi-square test, analysis of variation (ANOVA), regression analysis and multiple regression, etc. The focus of teaching is to understand the analytical logic, assumptions and result interpretation of each method, and to establish the necessary methodological foundation for students to take advanced quantitative research courses and engage in sociological empirical research in the future. Through this course, students will be able to build the ability to read and understand quantitative research results, and have the foundation to further use statistical analysis to conduct quantitative research in sociology in subsequent research or advanced methods courses.
