After completing the course, students are expected to achieve the following objectives:

1. Be able to demonstrate the ability to engage in independent reading and critical self-reflection related to mythological texts and themes.

2. Be able to acquire the foundational knowledge of the myths, concepts, and cultural frameworks that have significantly contributed to the development of Western civilization.

3. Be able to recognize the lasting influence of Greco-Roman mythology on Western literature from antiquity to modern times.

課程概述 Course Description

This course introduces both Greek and Roman mythology which form the basis of Western Literature and which continue to influence modern literature. Both myths and adaptations of myths in modern form will be read and studied. Various aspects of the myths will be discussed. Students will learn to approach myths critically and at the same time strengthen their skills in reading, analyzing and discussing narratives. This elective course (2 credits) provides a basis for literature classes taken in later years. General English skills should improve as well.
