In recent years, domestic trends have paid more and more attention to urban design in terms of conceptual or actual implementation and promotion. Although there are many people in Taiwan who talk about urban design, they often cannot accurately define the key points of professional development, the implementation mechanism and talent training. Although urban design and urban construction methods both help shape the overall urban space and environment, their views and goals are different. Urban design involves the overall planning, organization and connection of the urban environment, while urban architecture focuses on the design and construction of single buildings in this context. These methods are often heavy and can be combined in creating cohesive, functional and beautiful urban environments. Their goals are consistent. Although the concerns and working methods vary, the collaboration between these two subjects creates a carefully designed, powerful and livable urban environment. Entering the 21st century, we face important themes and new challenges in the city. From the overall urban development policy to the integration of urban planning and public policy; from the quality and reflection of urban renewal, historical preservation, to the concerns of weak neighborhoods; from the emphasis on environmental conservation to the declaration of ecological cities and sustainable urban development; even the impact of urban data and AI technology on future urban decisions and development, etc., it all explains the broad and complexity of the urban design and planning, as well as the diverse needs of professional education and talent training.
The course will be divided into two sessions. Each period is based on the Module of urban design topics as a unit. The first period will help students develop basic theories and thinking structures when they are engaged in urban design related topics in the future. The second period will be developed from Singapore's urban development experience, combining relevant successful cases, and helping students establish a city design scope and understanding of urban design related topics. Students in the two periods can choose to take the first degree (secondary score) or two periods (fourth grades).
在本門課中,我們將嘗試將都市設計的理論與實踐建構在以TAMED(Technical, Analytical,Multicultural, Ecological, Design)的相關文獻論述及實例出發的結構,建立一個結合人文思考的對於都市設計的基礎思考及認識。
Urban design has always been an important subject in environmental planning abroad. Famous academic institutions such as Harvard University, Binzhou University and Colombia University even have specialized urban design departments. In Taiwan, the two ends of focusing on urban planning and architecture, Kobe, a cross-regional academic in urban design, is not valued. How can we overcome an educational problem that has been driven by a profession for a long time: to tend to simplify knowledge and to understand urban/regional residence as a technical, methodical, and proven shopping list? Usually, professionally designated the topic of education that is necessary to be educated in a simple manner, leaving it to a rigid technical classical structure, covering the levels of government and planning legitimacy. In this course, we will try to construct the theory and practice of urban design in the structure developed with relevant text descriptions and examples of TAMED (Technical, Analytical, Multicultural, Ecological, Design), to establish a basic thinking and understanding of urban design that combines humanistic thinking.
