Sustainable Food Design Research
Course Target
One of the main purposes of urban life design is to improve the quality of life, create a comfortable urban life, and let citizens feel the joy of "living". To achieve this goal, urban systems and various facilities in space must undergo comprehensive planning adjustments and designs. In other words, urban design is a "relationship design", a design activity that includes multiple comprehensive relationships between people, people and society, people and products, people and space, etc. There are a variety of industrial products with different functions and different purposes in our living environment. Such an environment is called a "Manmade Environment"; and the environment formed by the interdependence between products is called a "Product Environment". Therefore, from the perspective of product environment design, exploring the "environmental space" where the "product" is placed, the "people" who move in the environmental space, the relationship between the three, and the related issues involving the life and culture level are one of the indispensable topics when engaging in urban design activities.
This course focuses on the place creation of humanistic design, using humanistic thinking to penetrate into and deeply understand the site, including local culture, residents' lives, overall environment, business models, transportation and street conditions, etc. It is hoped that through the subject, it will not only contribute to local development, but also train students' cross-field thinking, application, independent learning ability and future scalability, and even create their own future possibilities in the industry through the course content. This course is divided into two parts. First, it starts with the study of human behavior in the environment, allowing students to understand the issue of P-in-E. Then, it uses "food" as the issue to explore the role played or led by industrial design. Starting from food cultivation and transportation, it displays sales, cooking utensils, tableware and styles, food preservation, to social issues such as food surplus and reuse.
