「縉紳化(gentrification)」近來成為都市研究最熱門的領域，百花激放，學術社群相當可觀，南方城市的經驗研究日益豐富，成果有很大的應用價值。本課程將有系統地介紹縉紳化的重要課題與相關理論概念，主題包括：縉紳化的起源、生產面與消費面的解釋、九零年代的突變、千禧年後的縉紳化、對縉紳化的正反面評價、縉紳化與比較都市論、租隙理論、縉紳化與迫遷、貧民窟的縉紳化、縉紳化與文化經濟、對縉紳化的抵抗、縉紳化的替代方案，每周將討論一篇英文文章，佐以台中、上海、台北的案例深入進行探討。本課程以seminar的方式進行，修課同學須認領文本導讀，須繳交期中報告(約七千字)與期末報告(約一萬三千字)，適合對舊城再生、都市更新、空間再結構與都市社會研究有興趣的研究生參與，授課者將視同學的吸收情況適度調整進度。

This course is conducted in the seminar method. Students in the course must read the text and submit mid-term reports (about 7,000 words) and final reports (about 10,000 words). It is suitable for graduate students who are interested in old city regeneration, urban renewal, space restructuring and urban social research. The subjects will adjust the progress according to the students' absorption situation.
