This course aims to assist professionals with medical backgrounds, establish systematic quality management thinking, and master theoretical foundations and practical application skills for medical quality improvement. Through theoretical teaching and practical case analysis, students will learn how to introduce tools such as comprehensive quality management, PDCA cycles, root cause analysis, medical failure and pattern and effectiveness analysis into clinical or management processes. In addition, this course also covers the core concept of precision medicine and six-standard differences, helping students understand how to improve process, value analysis, and design and track quality performance indicators. It also learns to use Power BI tools for data analysis and visual presentation to support quality decisions. The course ultimately hopes to cultivate students with cross-departmental team cooperation capabilities, data analysis and decision-making capabilities, and be familiar with the actual application of quality tools in the medical field.
The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to the concepts and theories of quality control (QC) in representative areas of health care (HC). The philosophical perspectives supporting quality - from an entry of statistical thinking to medical value measurement. The course is to achieve the following goals:
1. To introduce students to the philosophies, methods and tools of Quality Control and suggest a new paradigm for management which goes beyond statistics in HC as it is commonly viewed today.
2. To provide case studies those exemplify the concepts in practice and give students a context for discussing the practical applications of QC.
