唯識學派在形上學上的基本立場是：我們所看到的外在世界只是我們意識所變現出的表象，並不存在獨立於意識之外的外在世界。唯識學派的頭號論敵就是來自於部派佛教中的外在實在論者。此本課程預計精讀二個重要唯識文獻，第一，世親（Vasubandhu 約4-5世紀）的《唯識二十論》。在這部哲學文獻中，唯識學與外在實在論者將討論關於夢的論證、原子理論、感覺知覺理論、他心識理論。第二，玄奘揉譯的成唯識論。在這部哲學文獻中，唯識學派與部派佛教將討論「所緣的因果作用」、意識的擁有者、業的歷時性、阿賴耶識存在論證等重要哲學問題。此課程對象為在職專班學員，不預設須要佛教背景。課程將以問題意識導向的方式進行，歡迎各個哲學領域的學員一起參與討論，激起更多的哲學活花。

The basic metaphysical stance of the Consciousness-Only School is that the external world we see is only the representation of our consciousness, and there is no external world independent of consciousness. The number one enemy of the consciousness-only school is the external realists from the Buddhist sect. This course is expected to intensively read two important knowledge-only texts. The first is "Twenty Treatises on Knowledge-only" by Vasubandhu (approximately 4th-5th century). In this philosophical text, consciousness-only and external realists will discuss the dream argument, the atomic theory, the theory of sensory perception, and the theory of other minds. Second, Xuanzang translated it into the Theory of Consciousness Only. In this philosophical document, the Consciousness-only School and Buddhist Buddhism will discuss important philosophical issues such as "the causal role of objects", the owner of consciousness, the diachronic nature of karma, and the argument for the existence of alaya consciousness. This course is aimed at on-the-job students and does not require a Buddhist background. The course will be conducted in a problem-awareness-oriented manner, and students from various philosophical fields are welcome to participate in discussions to stimulate more philosophical activities.
