人間は文字、音声等の媒介を通して他者と接触し、交流する。様々な形態のコミュニケーションにおいて多様な言語現象が見られる。本授業は台湾と日本を出発点とし、社会言語学の視点から言語行動、言語接触や言語変化を分析し、社会における様々な言語現象を考察できるようになることを目指す。また、文献講読、発表とディスカッションを重視し、興味や関心のある分野について考えを深め広げ、論理的・批判的思考力と課題解決力の向上を図る。Human words, voice and other media communicate with others and contact and communication. There are many different kinds of words. 人們時常利用語言、文字、聲音等符號進行接觸與交流。在各種型態的接觸交流過程中可發現許多不同語言現象，本課程以台灣、日本為出發點，同時從社會語言學的觀點（如：語言行動、語言接觸、語言變化等研究議題）分析與探討社會中的各種語言現象。
People often use symbols such as language, text, and voice to contact and communicate. During the contact and exchange of various types, many different language phenomena can be found. This course takes Taiwan and Japan as the development point, and at the same time analyzes and explores various language phenomena in society from the perspectives of social language (such as research topics such as language and actions, language contact, and language changes).
