西方漢學的儒學研究已累積百年之久，內容豐富多元，深刻影響當代學者的儒學論述。東西方學者基於文化背景與關懷課題的差異，面對儒學時觀察視角恰能形成深具價值的對照，任何研究者均不應輕忽。故本課程旨在研讀近百年重要漢學家的儒學論述，熟悉並活用國際學術資源，強化研究能力。本課程首先將介紹西方漢學界著名的儒家研究流派，包括將儒家稱為博物館骨董的列文森、強調儒學自由傳統價值的狄培理、定名「波士頓儒學」的南樂山、稱「夏威夷儒學」的郝大維與安樂哲，以及借鑒知識建構理論而對「儒家」概念進行考古的詹啟華等。在研讀上述著作之後，學生需撰寫完整論文一篇，並於課堂中發表。The Confucianism research in Western Hanology has been accumulated for a hundred years, with rich and diverse content, and has profoundly influenced the Confucianism discussions of contemporary scholars. Based on the differences between cultural background and related subjects, East and West scholars can form a valuable contrast when facing the Confucianism observation angle, and no researcher should ignore it. Therefore, this course aims to study Confucianism discussions by important Han scholars in the past century, be familiar with and use international academic resources, and strengthen research capabilities. This course will first introduce famous Confucian research schools in the Western Han Chinese community, including Levinson, who calls Confucianism the antique of museums, Di Peili, who emphasizes the free tradition of Confucianism, Nanleshan, who named "Boston Confucianism", Hao Dawei and An Lezhe, who called "Hawaii Confucianism", and Zhan Qihua, who uses knowledge to construct the concept of "Confucianism". After studying the above works, students are required to write a complete article and publish it in the classroom.
