Course Target

Do you know? Our daily movements, feelings, memory, and even learning new skills all rely on our brains to operate silently behind our backs. Although the brain only accounts for 2% of the body's weight, it is one of the busiest and most mysterious organs in the body. This course will take you to explore the structure and function of the brain step by step from a scientific perspective, and how it affects our physical health. The course starts with the basic structure of the brain, and introduces what each area of the brain is doing, how the signal is transmitted between the neural elements, and how we receive external sounds, images and contacts. You will learn how the central nervous system and the surrounding neural system cooperate to control movements, maintain balance, and how memory is formed. In addition to these basic operations, we will also have a deep understanding of various brain-related diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Chinese and physical and mental illness, to understand how they occur, what impacts it has on the body, and what treatments are available now. At the same time, we will also discuss brain development, immune responses to neural systems, and the latest research on whether it is possible to recover after brain injury. This course does not require a medical or biological background. As long as you have a little curiosity about human brain, technology, and future life, you are welcome to join. We will do it in the form of images, videos, cases, and discussions, without silence, and let you truly understand the way this super powerful "CPU" works and think about what role neuroscience will play in the future world. Whether you are a brain-lovers in science and engineering, a technology fan in humanities and social sciences, or purely interested in the brain, this course will make you feel: "So my brain is so cool!"
