根據文化部藝文展演活動統計,2023年臺灣約有2億8874萬人次參與5萬6123場視覺藝術、工藝、設計、音樂、戲劇、舞蹈、說唱、影片、民俗、語文、圖書、綜藝等活動,其中,以展示為核心業務的博物館單位,依據中華民國博物館學會最新的「臺灣博物館名錄」統計有487家,平均每百萬人有20.66家廣義的博物館,遠高於2021年3月聯合國教科文組織(UNESCO)統計的亞太地區每百萬人4.3家,顯示出博物館在臺灣社會影響力值得關注。
本課程從博物館學的角度,探討博物館與社會的關係,介紹博物館作為社會機構的作用,以案例說明其對文化、認同和記憶的影響,及其又如何被上述三者所塑造。如何系統性地認識博物館,讓博物館展示成為納入多元使用者/利害關係人的社會溝通平台,據此進行意見交流、協商、決策、執行與檢討,促進不同群體間的對話並形成共識,再將共識轉化為嘗試解決社會問題、改善環境的實踐,對社會現象提出批判,是今日公民的重要能力之一。藉由理論閱讀、案例討論和博物館實地考察,學生將了解博物館在社會中的作用,並練習批判性分析博物館在當代社會中的意義。According to the Ministry of Culture's Art Exhibition and Performance Activity Statistics, in 2023, about 288.74 million people participated in 56,123 activities such as visual art, art, design, music, drama, dance, singing, video, folk customs, language, books, and art. Among them, museum units with display as their core business will be based on the Republic of China. The museum association's latest "Taiwan Museum List" statistics have 487, with an average of 20.66 museums per million, which is far higher than the United Nations Educational and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) policy in March 2021, showing that the museum's social influence in Taiwan is worthy of attention.
From the perspective of museum learning, this course explores the relationship between museums and society, introduces the role of museums as social institutions, and uses cases to illustrate its impact on culture, recognition and memory, and how it is shaped by the above three. How to systematically understand the museum, let the museum display become a social communication platform that includes diverse users/stakeholders, conduct opinions, discuss, make decisions, execution and review, promote dialogues between different groups and form common sense, and then transform common sense into practical attempts to solve social problems and improve the environment, and criticize social phenomena, is one of the important abilities of today's citizens. Through theoretical reading, case discussion and on-site museum inspections, students will understand the role of museums in society and practice critically analyzing the meaning of museums in contemporary society.
