教育目標 Course Target

在社會學這一門學科的發展過程中,它一直都是奠基於以西方社會為對象,並視為與宣稱其是具有普適性的知識體系。 Connell認為,這種以北方、中心為出發點的理論,不僅忽略了對邊緣-中心的關注,也侷限並取消了南方經驗,因而提出「南方理論」概念。 本課程以Connell提出「南方理論」為知識框架,連結想像共同體、後殖民、國家、族群與個人主體性等概念,進一步討論東南亞華人的族群、社會與文化。除了藉以反思「北方理論」之餘,也將引導同學一起思考臺灣作為移民社會,如何與東南亞華人社會不同? 課程內容將分為以下五個部分:一、南方社會學的概論;二、東南亞華人族群移民史;三、華人一種作為想像的共同體;四、後殖民時期的華人社會及其認同課題;五、當代東南亞華人社會的族群、宗教、性別與文化。在每一大項的內容中,也將援引相對應的社會學概念,包括後殖民、國家、族群、認同、個人主體性等,逐一討論。 In the development of the science of society, it has always been based on a knowledge system that takes Western society as an object and regards it as and claims to be a universally suitable intellectual system. Connell believes that this theory, which takes the north and the center as the development point, not only ignores the attention to the edge-center, but also limits and cancels the southern experience, so he proposes the concept of "Southern Theory". This course uses Connell's "Southern Theory" as the intellectual framework, linking concepts such as imagination, postcoloniality, nation, ethnic group and personal subjectivity, and further discussing the ethnic, society and culture of Southeast Asians. In addition to reflecting on the "Northern Theory", we will also guide students to think together about how Taiwan, as an immigrant society, is different from the Asian society in Southeast Asia? The course content will be divided into the following five parts: 1. An overview of southern society; 2. History of immigration of Southeast Asian ethnic groups; 3. Chinese as an imaginary community; 4. Chinese society and their similar subjects during the post-colonial period; 5. Ethnicity, religion, gender and culture of contemporary Southeast Asian society. In each major content, corresponding social concepts will also be cited, including postcoloniality, country, ethnicity, identity, personal subjectivity, etc., and discussed one by one.
