【簡介】:「道德經濟」看起來是個正經八百的組合概念,不過,若換成以下方式思考,說不定更容易了解。想想看:當每個人把私益放到最大的時候,還有「社會」嗎?排隊時遇到插隊者,腦海中會出現什麼想法?生命由誰及能否定價?人際情感互動和禮物饋贈,能否視為純粹的經濟交易?如何解釋群體中的「搭便車」現象?一群人選擇彼此合作或抗爭,會有哪些利益與情感考量?在集體行動、公共補助、移民/難民、失業救濟等制度層次的議題背後,有哪些「互惠」機制和不平等的問題?
這門課將跟參與者一起認識「道德經濟」這個分析觀點,在不受任一學門及次領域的束縛下,切入真實世界的問題與公共議題 (參見陳嘉新老師的說法:「真實世界的問題從來就不認識學科」)。課程各週將搭配重要學術文獻、報導與影音討論,提升參與者的社會分析能力。

[Introduction]: "Moral economy" seems to be a serious concept, but if you think about it in the following way, it may be easier to understand. Think about it: when everyone puts their own interests to the greatest extent, is there still "society"? What thoughts come to your mind when you encounter someone who jumps in line? By whom and can life be put at a price? Can interpersonal emotional interactions and gift giving be regarded as purely economic transactions? How to explain the "free-riding" phenomenon in groups? What are the interests and emotional considerations when a group of people choose to cooperate or fight with each other? What are the "reciprocity" mechanisms and inequality issues behind institutional-level issues such as collective action, public subsidies, immigration/refugees, and unemployment benefits?
This course will help participants understand the analytical perspective of "moral economy" and cut into real-world problems and public issues without being bound by any discipline or sub-field (see what Teacher Chen Jiaxin said: "Real-world problems never recognize disciplines"). Each week of the course will be paired with important academic documents, reports and audio-visual discussions to enhance participants’ social analysis abilities.
