社會統計除了是社會學量化研究之基礎外，亦在市場調查、民意調查等領域有著廣泛的用途。上學期課程提供社會統計學的基礎知識，主要教授單一變項的描述統計與統計推論。課程將涵蓋變項測量、比較、圖形製作、集中趨勢、離散趨勢，並且涵蓋常態分配、抽樣、抽樣分配、估計與假設檢定等部分。下學期則是延續上學期的進度，討論兩變項和多變項的統計推論部分，包含兩樣本假設檢定、卡方檢定、兩變項間之相關(含類別變項、等級變項、等距變項)、線性迴歸、變異數分析、多元迴歸、模型建構、羅吉斯迴歸等。In addition to being the basis of quantitative social research, social statistics also have wide uses in market surveys, public opinion surveys and other fields.
