社會統計除了是社會學量化研究之基礎外，亦在市場調查、民意調查等領域有著廣泛的用途。上學期課程提供社會統計學的基礎知識，主要教授單一變項的描述統計與統計推論。課程將涵蓋變項測量、比較、圖形製作、集中趨勢、離散趨勢，並且涵蓋常態分配、抽樣、抽樣分配、估計與假設檢定等部分。下學期則是延續上學期的進度，討論兩變項和多變項的統計推論部分，包含兩樣本假設檢定、卡方檢定、兩變項間之相關(含類別變項、等級變項、等距變項)、線性迴歸、變異數分析、多元迴歸、模型建構、羅吉斯迴歸等。

In addition to being the basis for quantitative research in sociology, social statistics are also widely used in fields such as market surveys and public opinion surveys. The course in the last semester provides basic knowledge of social statistics, mainly teaching descriptive statistics and statistical inference of single variables. The course will cover variable measurement, comparison, graph production, central tendency, discrete trend, and cover normal allocation, sampling, sampling allocation, estimation and hypothesis testing.
