比較政治為政治學中的重要領域，其研究範圍為世界各國的國內政治現象。本課程要帶領學生，對比較政治的核心概念、重要議題以及重點國家的政治現況進行初步認識。本課程以制度（institution）為中心，探討在五大場域（國家、市場、社會、民主政體、非民主政體）當中的權力（power）機制，希望能為學生將來修習比較政治的進階課程奠定基礎。

Comparative politics is an important field in political science, and its research scope covers domestic political phenomena in countries around the world. This course will lead students to gain a preliminary understanding of the core concepts and important issues of comparative politics, as well as the current political situation of key countries. This course focuses on institutions and explores the power mechanisms in five major fields (state, market, society, democratic regimes, and non-democratic regimes). It is hoped that it can lay the foundation for students to take advanced courses in comparative politics in the future.

本課程內容主要在介紹當今主要國家的政府與政治體制，其中包括工業化民主國家英國、法國，德國、日本等；共產及後共產國家俄羅斯、中共等；以及開發中國家印度、墨西哥等。藉由比較這些國家的政府體制（行政、立法、司法、文官）與政治體制（政黨、利益團體）上的差異，以及實際政治（政治參與、政治引用、政府決策）運作上的不同，來說明影響政府體制及其實際政治運作的原因為何，以期學生具備相關的政治知識，分析判斷與公共服務的能力。

The content of this course mainly introduces the governments and political systems of today's major countries, including industrial democracies such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, etc.; communist and post-communist countries such as Russia and the Communist Party of China; and developing countries such as India and Mexico. By comparing the differences in the government systems (executive, legislative, judicial, civil servants) and political systems (political parties, interest groups) in these countries, as well as the differences in the operation of actual politics (political participation, political reference, government decision-making), the reasons that affect the government system and its actual political operations are explained, so that students can have relevant political knowledge, analytical judgment and public service capabilities.
