Narrative Approaches in Social Work Practice

Course Target

The narrative-oriented working method is based on the philosophy of helping others based on postmodern ideological trends and social construction concepts. This course attempts to deeply reflect on the role of a helper; reflect on when a helper uses his or her professional knowledge to come into contact with a client's life experience; whether it re-marks the status of the client's illness, or it provides an opportunity to see oneself and the world from a new perspective. In this course, you will learn to: understand the client’s story; assist the client to rewrite his or her life story: generate new power of action.
This course will introduce basic theories and practical cases. Students can also understand the related techniques and applications of narrative interviews through reading, discussion and practice. It attempts to break new ground on a difficult issue, which is why it attracts me.
