In ethics, we ask, is an action morally authorized? In psychological philosophy, we can give physical and psychological comprehension points to the same body. In metaphysics, do we consider whether an action is free? Before we explore these questions, it seems we have a more basic problem to deal with: What is action? Only after we get the answer can we tell whether an action is morally permitted and what the action is pointed out. When we know that action and body movement are equivalent or belong to different scopes, we can evaluate whether physical and psychological comprehensions are compatible with the same body movement. In addition, considering free movement has made us aware of the nature of the movement. From this point of view, action is closely related to these areas, but action philosophy is concerned with prior and more basic issues. In addition to studying what action is, the questions in action philosophy discussion include at least: How is action explained? What is intention, will, and trial? What is real knowledge? Does action have a constitutive goal? How is weak will possible? What is the subjectivity of the collective?
