(二) 人類為何不停進行科學探索？本課程由疾病瘟疫和農糧減產實例啟發學生。
(三) 認識食品、醫療、生質能源、環境工程、工業生產等產業應用的微生物學對人類發展的影響，認識科學探索的歷史和倫理。
