本課程的學習目標爲學習有關「日本文學」「日本文化」的基礎概念與問題，以及其中所涵蓋的文化、思想脈絡，並透過文本閱讀與討論來理解作品中的內容、背景。學期前半將概觀東亞中的「日本」「文學」「近代」等問題。後半將從思想史角度探討「武士道」「神道」「妖怪」等現在常視為「日本文化」的各種概念的建構過程。

The learning objectives of this course are to learn the basic concepts and issues related to "Japanese literature" and "Japanese culture", as well as the cultural and ideological context covered in them, and to understand the content and background of the works through text reading and discussion. The first half of the semester will provide an overview of issues such as "Japan", "literature" and "modern times" in East Asia. The second half will explore the construction process of various concepts such as "Bushido", "Shinto" and "Yōkai" that are often regarded as "Japanese culture" from the perspective of intellectual history.
