Upon the conclusion of the course, students will be able to
1.recognize that medical anthropology provides a holistic understanding of health and illness;
2.identify how culture and social institutions shape the way illnesses and medical systems are constructed, including biomedicine/western medicine/modern medicine;
3.critically evaluate salient healthcare issues in Taiwan by incorporating knowledge from multiple disciplines;
4.conduct literature and field research on Taiwanese traditional medicine; and
5.practice effective oral communication skills as a discussant and a presenter.
