本課程為暑期羅馬異地教學課程的先修課程，目的是讓同學在暑假之前，對所要去的羅馬、佛羅倫斯以及米蘭、威尼斯有初步的認識。本課程將從義大利城市的空間元素著手，藉著對城市空間的了解，進一步認識它們的文化，並針對當時生活的需求，如何影響都市及建築形式的發展作深入的探討。課程的進行將以講堂為主，學生的作業包括地圖描繪及資料收集，期望在學期結束前對所要參觀的城市與建築，收集到基本資料，作為暑假去義大利的參考。

This course is a prerequisite course for summer off-site teaching courses in Rome. The purpose is to give students a preliminary understanding of Rome, Florence, Milan and Venice where they are going before the summer vacation. This course will start with the spatial elements of Italian cities. Through understanding of urban space, we will further understand their culture, and conduct an in-depth discussion on how the needs of life at that time affected the development of urban and architectural forms. The course will be mainly conducted in lectures, and students' homework includes map drawing and data collection. They hope to collect basic information about the cities and buildings they want to visit before the end of the semester, which can be used as a reference for going to Italy during the summer vacation.
