自然光給予了空間特性，也給予了建築生命，因為建築的生命是由光的照射而產生的。光影在建築空間中具有美學價值，其最大的作用就是對人視覺心理的影響。
光影運用在不同建築空間中，將創造出不同的環境氛圍和空間藝術，產生光獨特的表現力。光與影能塑造建築的形體、渲染建築意境、構築建築空間、表達內在精神，每個建築物在光影的交織下都顯示出獨特的形式美感。光影承載了建築物的內涵和意境，是未來設計發展的潮流趨勢，促進建築設計更好的發展。
