科技指的是知識(know-how)。這知識是關於使用、設計、維修物體和硬體,它的傳播可能是視覺形象的,可能是觀察、練習、操作的,也可能是口傳教授與書寫閱讀的
~~(Mackenzie and Wajcman, 1985) 麻省理工學院的教授Michael Fischer 曾寫出一個STS導論的課程模組,可見STS在近幾年社會科學學科之重要性。近幾年來,科學、技術與社會((Science, Technology and Society,簡稱STS)研究與科技與醫療(STM)在歐洲與美國已經成為相當重要的次學門,在社會學新興學門中佔有一定的份量。科技與社會的領域出現,受到知識社會學、科學史、科學哲學、醫療社會學與女性主義理論、後結構主義、後現代主義的影響,具有跨學科研究的性質,且強調社會參與及實作。STS的科技與社會研究,強調分析科學技術與社會文化的交錯共構關係,以及並探討科技如何與社會生活相互影響,要求貼近社會脈動並且理解科技的政治性。STS研究強調必須回應實際遭遇的問題,以及在地性與全球性。 本課程以科技與社會(STS)為主要理論依據,以科學爭議、科學不確定性、技術物的政治性、流行病學的爭議等問題切入各類台灣社會問題,讓同學從多元的角度,思考台灣社會的科技問題。以三個主題為台灣社會問題案例:1. 科技物的政治性:科博館參訪與適當科技等案例2. 課程與RCA、疫苗、動物生態等在地議題連結,帶領同學思索如何實際發展研究調查方法,課程鼓勵學習從生態女性主義、環境運動、動物與人的關係等進行思索與考察。 Technology refers to knowledge (know-how). This knowledge is about the use, design, repair of objects and hardware. Its propagation may be visual, observation, practice, operation, or reading by oral professors and books. (Mackenzie and Wajcman, 1985) Michael Fischer, a professor at MIT, once wrote a course module for STS's discussions, which shows the importance of STS in social sciences in recent years. In recent years, science, technology and society (Science, Technology and Society, referred to as STS, has become a very important sub-door in Europe and the United States, and has a certain weight in the social innovation door. The emergence of science and technology and society is influenced by intellectual society, scientific history, scientific philosophy, medical society and female theory, post-structuralism, post-modernism, and post-modernism. It has the nature of interdisciplinary research and emphasizes social participation and implementation. STS's technology and social research emphasizes the analysis of the common structure of scientific technology and social culture, and explores how technology affects social life, requiring close social movements and understanding the political nature of technology. STS research emphasizes that it must respond to problems encountered in reality, local and global. This course takes science and society (STS) as the main theoretical basis, and uses scientific disputes, scientific uncertainty, the political nature of technology, and the disputes about epidemics to enter various Taiwan social issues, allowing students to think about the scientific and technological issues of Taiwan society from a diverse perspective. Three topics are used as cases of social problems in Taiwan: 1. The political nature of scientific and technological objects: Science and Technology Museum visits and suitable science and technology, etc. 2. The course is linked to local issues such as RCA, vaccines, animal ecology, etc., and lead students to think about how to effectively develop research and investigation methods. The course encourages learning to think about and investigate from the ecology of feminism, environmental movement, the relationship between animals and people.
