教育是人們生命中首次接觸到的正式制度，也是一公共財，對社會整體的影響極大。因此，教育社會學是自社會學成為一門學科以來，極為相當重要的學門。有學者認為教育是社會流動的重要途徑，而其餘學者認為教育是一種合法資格的取得，使得社會不平等得以延續。然而，教育對社會的影響為何？更具體的來說，教育在決定誰能進入頂尖大學並獲得更好的回報中，扮演了什麼樣的角色？此外，家庭的社經地位如何影響家庭對於個人教育的投資？本課程將探討與上述問題有關的理論和實證研究。透過檢視教育與社會不平等之間的關係，本課程將探討多個相關主題，包含家庭、文化和性別等，同時強調理論基礎在當前教育社會學研究中的應用。

Education is the first formal system that people come into contact with in their lives. It is also a public asset and has a great impact on society as a whole. Therefore, educational sociology is an extremely important discipline since sociology became a discipline. Some scholars believe that education is an important way to social mobility, while other scholars believe that education is the acquisition of legal qualifications, which perpetuates social inequality. However, what is the impact of education on society? More specifically, what role does education play in determining who gets into top universities and gets better rewards? In addition, how does the socioeconomic status of the family affect the family's investment in personal education? This course will explore theoretical and empirical research related to the above issues. By examining the relationship between education and social inequality, this course will explore a variety of relevant themes, including family, culture, and gender, while emphasizing the application of theoretical foundations to current research in the sociology of education.
