一、課程簡介

「文化」是社會學最重要的概念之一。熟悉文化概念將使同學能擴展到不同學科次領域，如文化人類學、身體研究、消費研究、後殖民研究、歷史社會學、哲學等。本課程試圖整合20年前辯論的兩個派別---（美國）文化社會學與（英國）文化研究兩取向之差異，並探討文化與社會兩者概念有不同？文化如何生產與分配？文化「意義」是什麼？本課程結合台灣與西方文化社會學案例，讓同學了解文化社會學研究個案。課程將分兩部分介紹文化社會學的個案，第一部分將閱讀《觀光客的凝視3.0》，透過英國觀光個案分析，理解觀光的文化社會學。再者，延伸觀光客凝視，課程介紹媒體與流行文化、全球化等概念介紹。課程最後兩週，將帶同學到鹿港參訪，以鹿港文化變遷與在地文創作為考察案例。

1. Course Introduction

"Culture" is one of the most important concepts in sociology. Familiarity with cultural concepts will enable students to expand into different subject subfields, such as cultural anthropology, body studies, consumption studies, postcolonial studies, historical sociology, philosophy, etc. This course attempts to integrate the differences between the two factions that debated 20 years ago - (American) cultural sociology and (British) cultural studies, and explores the differences between the concepts of culture and society. How is culture produced and distributed? What is the "meaning" of culture? This course combines Taiwanese and Western cultural sociology cases to allow students to understand cultural sociology research cases. The course will be divided into two parts to introduce cultural sociology cases. In the first part, you will read "Tourist Gaze 3.0" and understand the cultural sociology of tourism through the analysis of British tourism cases. Furthermore, extending the tourist gaze, the course introduces concepts such as media, popular culture, and globalization. In the last two weeks of the course, students will be taken to Lukang for a visit, using Lukang’s cultural changes and local cultural creation as case studies.
