統計方法是社會科學研究中常用的方法之一，本課程的主要目的就是讓同學了解統計可以"應用"來做什麼。本課程將以簡單、觀念化、合乎邏輯的方式，闡述統計如何被應用來分析問題，並透過數據提出解答。課程上會盡量避免艱深的內容和數學推導，學習的重點是讓同學獲得正確的統計應用方法。本課程將藉由課堂講授與實際操作SPSS，幫助同學建立循證分析的基本統計能力。
基本上本課程包含：
1. 敘述統計：關於數據資料的描述及整理。
2. 機率：統計推論的基礎。
3. 統計推論：從樣本統計量推估母體參數的統計方法。
4. 假設檢定與變異數分析：母體參數差異的分析與判斷。
5. 迴歸分析：利用統計進行社會現象的關聯分析。
6. SPSS操作。

Statistical methods are one of the commonly used methods in social science research. The main purpose of this course is to let students understand what statistics can be "applied" to. This course will explain in a simple, conceptual and logical way how statistics can be used to analyze problems and provide answers through data. Difficult content and mathematical derivation will be avoided as much as possible in the course, and the focus of learning will be to enable students to acquire correct statistical application methods. This course will help students build basic statistical abilities in evidence-based analysis through classroom lectures and practical SPSS operations.
Basically this course covers:
1. Narrative statistics: description and organization of data.
2. Probability: the basis of statistical inference.
3. Statistical inference: a statistical method to estimate parent parameters from sample statistics.
4. Hypothesis testing and variation analysis: analysis and judgment of differences in maternal parameters.
5. Regression analysis: Use statistics to conduct correlation analysis of social phenomena.
6. SPSS operation.
