The course has practical finalities. By attending it, students will learn how to deal with daily situations such as self-introduction, greetings, taking public transportation, asking directions, visiting museums, attending restaurants and so on within an Italian-speaking environment. Situational learning and role-play methodologies will be implemented in the course. In addition, students will be introduced and to experience a variety of Italian cultures.1. Learn standard pronunciation, verbal grammar and basic grammar.

3. Learn and be familiar with Italian-related cultures (such as Italian history, geography, customs and folk customs, festival activities, cooking, art, fashion, etc.).

The course applies a communicative approach, and thus students are encouraged to actively participate in the class and interact with other students. Group tasks are also arranged in order to facilitate peer-learning and presentation ability. Four major language abilities (listening, speaking, reading and writing) are exercised during the course. The course itself is also conceived as a first step in order to prepare for CILS (Certificate of Italian as a Foreign Language), Level A1. It is also intended as an introduction to Italian multifarious culture.
