本授業はまず社会言語学や言語政策の視点から台湾・日本における言語の多様性、言語使用の可能性及び言語の持つ役割について検討する。次に、グループディスカッションを行い、やさしい言語（日本語・中国語）を事例として、関連資料を読んだり討論したりやさしい言語の特徴を深く考える。また、グループ演習（AI翻訳ツールと結びつく）・発表を通して、社会言語の現象に対する観察力を身につけると同時に、相手の立場に立って言語支援を行うことができるようになる。そして、授業で学んだ知識やスキルを日常生活に応用できるようにすることを目標とする。
