城市是現代政治、社會、經濟之中心，是現代文化誕生之所在，同時也是培養文化人不斷創新之基地。臺灣城市的出現有其特殊的歷史背景，同時，隨政權之更迭與島內外情勢之演變，而出現相應的發展。這些城市興起過程，不僅顯示台灣現代化發展之脈絡，並對戰後臺灣各地區域發展發揮相當程度的影響。本課程採講授與討論並用之方式，講授以自編授課大綱為主，輔以重要參考文獻，並提出問題以進行課堂討論。教學評量為平日上課討論表現、平時作業、學期報告。

The city is the center of modern politics, society, and economy, the birthplace of modern culture, and the base for cultivating cultural people to continue to innovate. The emergence of Taiwanese cities has its own special historical background. At the same time, with the change of political power and the evolution of the situation inside and outside the island, corresponding developments have occurred. The rise of these cities not only shows the context of Taiwan's modernization development, but also exerted a considerable influence on regional development in various parts of Taiwan after the war. This course uses a combination of lectures and discussions. The lectures are mainly based on a self-written syllabus, supplemented by important references, and questions are raised for class discussion. Teaching evaluation includes daily class discussion performance, daily homework, and semester reports.
